What is the benefit of this enhancement?
Introduced in Creo Parametric 4.0, the Import Validation tool is used to compare key characteristics of native and converted data during import or open workflows, and to quickly report any conversion issues. In Creo Parametric 5.0.0.0, there are new options and settings, increasing the value of Import Validation when working with nonnative CAD models.
Through the Model Tree or the Notification Center, there are new options to help you resolve import validation failures such as the options listed below:
Repair Imported Geometry
Use Alternate Mass Properties
Ignore Solidification Check
If an imported model cannot be solidified or needs repair, you have direct access to Import Data Doctor through the Import Validation tool. You no longer need to access Import Data Doctor through the traditional process. This makes corrections quicker and easier.
You can also assign alternate mass properties for imported models. Creo Parametric can then use the assigned mass properties rather than the calculated values from the imported geometry, in order to determine the validation score.
If you are only concerned about the integrity of the surface geometry and shaded display of the imported geometry, you can choose to ignore the solidification check for certain models. Ignoring this check for a particular model, means you accept that it is not solid, even if the general configuration for Import Validation is set up to check for solidification failure.
With these enhancements, you can quickly identify and resolve import failures or configure the Import Validation tool to meet your needs. Spend more time innovating your design and less time tackling issues.
