To Export a Part or Assembly as a VDA File
1. Open a part or assembly and click File > Save As > Save a Copy. The Save a Copy dialog box opens.
2. Select VDA (*.vda) in the Type box.
3. Accept the default name in the File name box or type a new name for the model.
4. Click Options in the Save a Copy dialog box to customize the export profile. The VDA Export Profile Settings export profile editor opens.
5. Click Load Profile and select a stored VDA export profile in the Open export profile dialog box or customize the export settings in VDA Export Profile Settings.
6. Click OK in VDA Export Profile Settings.
7. Click OK in the Save a Copy dialog box to export the model or select the Customize Export check box before you click OK to select layers and a coordinate system for the exported model.
If you select the Customize Export check box, the Export VDA dialog box opens.
8. Click Customize layers in the Export VDA dialog box. The Choose Layers dialog box opens.
9. Select layers for export in the Choose Layers dialog box.
10. Click Quilts and select a set of quilts on the model or the Model Tree to include quilts in the export.
11. Use the default coordinate system or select a coordinate system for the part or assembly.
12. Click Export in the Export VDA dialog box. The part or the assembly model is exported to the VDA format using the options in the VDA export profile and the layers and coordinate system selected in the Export VDA dialog box.
