About Editing Import and Export Profiles
You can customize the designated and the stored profiles to include and exclude import and export settings and preferences and modify their values. A few profile settings are mutually exclusive while some settings appear greyed out indicating that you cannot select or exclude them. The availability of some settings depends on the file format of the model selected for import or the format selected for export. For example, the Misc tab is available in the import profile only when you select part and assembly models that belong to the Creo Elements/Direct, CATIA V5, IGES, STEP, VDA, STL, MEDUSA, and Wavefront formats.
To edit an import or export profile before you begin the import, file open, or export of a model, you must select the file format to which the profile belongs in the Import and Open Profiles or the Export Profiles section of the Creo Parametric Options dialog box. You must then click Setup Import and Open Profiles or Setup Export Profiles to access the format-specific import or export profile editor. You can edit the settings of the designated import or export profile in the profile editor or click Load Profile and select the profile to edit from the profiles directory or other locations. You can click Reset in the profile editors to cancel your changes and revert to the original settings of the import or export profile.
In a session, after you begin the import, append, assemble, or export task, you can access the import profile editors in the Import New Model and File dialog boxes and the export profile editors in the Save a Copy dialog box. You can click Details in the Import New Model and File dialog boxes to access the import profile editors that are of the same formats as the models selected for import. To access the export profile editors, select the formats for export and click Options in the Save a Copy dialog box. You can edit the settings of the designated profiles or click Load Profile in the import and export profile editors to open and edit the stored profiles that are of the same format as the format included in the title of the profile editor.

* When you modify the settings of the import profile in use, the in-session changes are only valid for the task in session.
The import profiles with the changes are saved with the imported features and models including the Translated Image Models (TIMs). The legacy TIMs and import features use the settings of the import profile of the session when you use Associative Topology Bus (ATB) for their associative update. An import profile saved with a model, TIM, or imported feature appears as the Embedded Profile in the File dialog box when you redefine the imported feature or reload its source file.
