About Copying Layout Geometry to an Assembly
You can bring content from a 2D Layout into an assembly in one of two ways:
Assembling the layout directly into the assembly.
Creating a layout feature similar to a copy geometry feature.
Assembling a Layout Directly into an Assembly
When you assemble a layout directly into an assembly, the entire layout is assembled. You cannot select specific geometry and have limited update control. A layout component is identified by in the Model Tree
Creating a Layout Feature in an Assembly
When you create a layout feature in an assembly, you have full control of which entities to include from the layout. You can set update control for updating the copied entities when the layout changes. You define placement of the layout geometry in the assembly.
A layout feature is assembled similar to a component in the assembly, but behaves as a data sharing feature. A layout feature is identified by in the Model Tree.
