About the Turn Profile User Interface
The Turn Profile user interface consists of the following items:
Tabs
Feature Tab
The Turn Profile tab consists of the following buttons:
—Define a turn profile by creating an envelope on the fly.
—Define turn profile by specifying From and To surfaces on a reference model.
—Define turn profile along the segments of a datum curve or another Turn Profile.
—Sketch a turn profile.
—Define a turn profile by section.
—Select an existing envelope to create a turn profile.
—Flips turn profile from above the centerline to below or vice versa.
—Flips the material removal side from one side of the turn profile to the other. Alternatively, select the turn profile, right-click, and click Tool Location from the shortcut menu.
Tabs
Placement—Contains the following options that define the reference coordinate system and reference entities:
Placement Csys Collector—Specifies the reference coordinate system for the turn profile.
Reference ModelCollector—Specifies the reference model for the turn profile.
Profile—Contains the following options that can be used to adjust the Turn Profile:
Flip—Flips the direction of the profile by interchanging the start and end points. Alternatively, select the turn profile, right-click, and click Flip Direction from the shortcut menu.
Toggle—Replaces the profile with its mirror image along the start plane when there is no center bore. Alternatively, select the turn profile, right-click, and click Toggle Profile from the shortcut menu.
With a center line bore, all turn profiles except for the sketched ones result in a closed loop above the center line. The turn profile uses only a portion of this loop, which is identified by the start and end points. If you select Toggle, the start and end points are maintained. However the turn profile is switched to follow the portion of the loop that was previously not a part of the turn profile.
The list of segments of the turn profile. Also contains options to add, remove, or modify the segments
Adjust Turn Profile—A set of standard tools for editing the tool shape between two vertices on the turn profile. Tools are applied as the turn profile is traversed from start to end. Shape options include:
Line Connect—Replaces turn profile segments with a line connecting the From and To vertices.
Trim in X—Replaces turn profile segments with a line in the X-axis direction starting at the From vertex and ending at the intersection of the segment with the To vertex at its end.
Trim to Corner—Trims the turn profile segment with the From vertex at its start and the segment with the To vertex at its end to form a corner.
*
The From position may lie on the start of a turn profile.
Properties—Allows you to enter a user-defined name for the feature. Turn Profiles are generally created with a default name, such as TURN_PROFILE_1, TURN_PROFILE_2, and so on. You can change the default name by typing the new name in the Name field.
Also allows you to view information about the Turn Profile feature in the Creo Parametric browser.
Shortcut Menus
When you select the turn profile in the graphics window and right-click, a shortcut menu appears with the following options:
Clear—Removes the selected reference coordinate system. Alternatively, right-click the Placement Csys collector on the Placement panel and click Remove from the shortcut menu.
Flip Direction—Flips the direction of the profile by interchanging the start and end points.
Toggle Profile—Replaces the profile with its mirror image along the start plane.
Tool Location—Flips the material removal side from one side of the turn profile to the other.
Set as Start Point—Sets selected point as the start point of the turn profile. Alternatively, select and drag the start point to the desired location on the turn profile.
Set as End Point—Sets selected point as the end point of the turn profile. Alternatively, select and drag the end point to the desired location on the turn profile.
Edit Shape—Enables editing of the turn profile shape.
The vertices of the turn profile are represented by cross-marks that are highlighted in blue color when the mouse pointer is moved over them. With profile editing enabled, if you select a vertex on the turn profile and right-click, a shortcut menu appears with the following options:
Trim in X—Trims the segment to the current location of the From and To points in the X direction. The previous and next segments are automatically adjusted to keep the profile continuous.
Trim in Z—Trims the segment to the current location of the From and To points in the Z direction. The previous the next segments are automatically adjusted to keep the profile continuous.
Trim to Corner—Extend two segments of the Turn Profile at selected To points until they form a corner.
Line Connect—Create a straight line connecting the From and To points of the selected segment.
Delete Adjustment—Delete selected segment. The previous and next segments are automatically adjusted to keep the profile continuous.
Exit Edit Shape—Locks the turn profile shape for editing.
