To Place a ThingMark
You can add a ThingMark to your model to create an augmented CAD object. The ThingMark represents the code scanned later causing the augmented object to appear relative to the scanned ThingMark the same way the Creo model appears relative to the ThingMark added to the model.
1. In an open model, click Tools > Target > ThingMark. The ThingMark tab opens.
2. Use one of the following Placement Type options to place the ThingMark:
Standard Plane (default)
—Places the ThingMark on one of the 6 default standard environment planes.
Custom Plane—Places the ThingMark on any planar reference such as a surface, plane, or quilt.
Advanced—Places the ThingMark using placement constraints.
3. To set the width of the ThingMark, use the width handle or type a value in the Width box and press ENTER. The size of the augmented object is defined by the relative size between the model and the ThingMark and by the size of the scanned ThingMark.
4. To hide or show the dragger, click . You can use the dragger to translate and rotate the ThingMark in the available degrees of freedom.
5. Click . The ThingMark is added to the Augmented Reality folder in the Footer folder of the Model Tree.
Standard Plane Placement
Places the ThingMark in the model scenery. By default, the ThingMark is placed on a plane directly below the model and facing the model. The Distance dimension reflects its position in relation to the model. You can switch placement to one of 6 default planes. Use this option when you want to publish a table top experience.
1. Click Standard Plane.
2. To change the default plane Bottom, choose a different plane from the list.
3. To change the distance from the model, use one of the following methods:
Type a new distance in the Distance box.
Use the dragger in the Graphics Window.
Double-click the number in the Graphics Window, type a number in the box, and press ENTER.
Custom Plane Placement
Places the ThingMark on a planar surface on the model or on a selected datum plane.
1. Click Custom Plane.
2. Select a planar surface on the model or a datum plane.
3. To select side references, use the dragger in the Graphics Window or click Placement and follow the steps below. Valid references are linear edges coplanar to the primary placement surface or datum planes and planar surfaces perpendicular to it.
a. Click the Side ref1 collector and select a side reference on the model. To offset the ThingMark from the selected side, type a number in the box and press ENTER.
b. Click the Side ref2 collector and select a second side reference on the model. To offset the ThingMark from the selected side, type a number in the box and press ENTER.
4. To flip the face of the ThingMark to the other side, click .
Advanced Placement
1. Click Advanced.
2. Click to display the ThingMark in a separate window, or click to display the ThingMark in the graphics window (default). Both options can be active at the same time and can be changed at will.
3. To place the ThingMark using an interface, leave the default selected. You can use Interface To Geom or Interface To Interface placement.
4. To place the ThingMark using available constraints, click .
5. Select constraint references. For more placement options, open the Placement tab.
6. Once a constraint set has been defined, a new constraint is automatically activated, until the ThingMark is fully constrained.
