To Replace a Component with an Existing Copy
With this method of replacement, you replace a component, part or subassembly, with an existing copy of the component. The incoming model must be an exact copy or a newer version of the outgoing model.

The source model must not contain changes that are made after the copy operation. Follow the steps below for best results when replacing an assembly component.
1. Save the model that you plan to copy.
2. Save a copy of the model to replace.
3. Immediately replace the source model.
1. In an open assembly, select the component, or multiple occurrences of the same component, to be replaced, right-click, and select from the shortcut menu or click Operations > Replace. The Replace dialog box opens.
2. Click Existing copy as the Replace By option.
3. Click the box under Select new component and click . The Open dialog box opens.
4. Select the copy of the component to replace the outgoing component and click Open. The component is replaced.
5. Click OK in the Replace dialog box.
