To Shape a Volume
You can shape volumes by using classified surfaces along with the parting surfaces. The shaped volume is created on a side of the parting surface. You can create only one volume at a time using the Shape Volume command. If you want to create more than one volume simultaneously, use the Volume Split command. Use the following steps to shape a volume:
1. Click > > . The Shape Volume tab opens.
2. Click the Boundary reference collector and select a workpiece body or mold volume. Alternatively, click the References tab and select a volume. When the mold assembly contains a single unblanked workpiece that is single body, the collector is automatically populated with the workpiece body.
| In the object-action workflow, you can select a workpiece body or a mold volume and then click the Shape Volume command. In such a workflow, the selected mold volume is populated in the Boundary reference collector only when the workpiece is blanked. If the workpiece is unblanked, the Boundary reference collector populates the workpiece instead of the selected mold volume. |
3. Click the Surfaces collector and select one or more classified surfaces along with the parting surfaces. Alternatively, click the References tab and select the classified and parting surfaces.
| A classified and a parting surface must intersect the workpiece. |
4. Click the Properties sub-tab and type the name of the feature.
5. Click
OK. The
Properties dialog box opens.
6. Type the name of the volume in the Properties dialog box.
