What is the benefit of this enhancement?
The tree placement behavior has now become more flexible.
Creo Parametric 8.0 allows you to tailor the tree display to your personal needs and preferences. The secondary trees, such as the Layer Tree and the Design Tree, can be dragged out and docked to the borders of the graphics window or within the navigator panel, or can be placed as floating dialog boxes. Therefore, you can show the trees side-by-side and also split the Model Tree into two independent trees. For example, you can show a combination of the Design Tree and the Model Tree, or the Model Tree and the Layer Tree. You can also display the Model Tree, the Design Tree, and the Layer Tree at the same time.
When you separately display the Design Tree, you have the option to independently configure its tree settings and filters. You can also enable a separate simple search for it. This allows you to search within one tree without interfering with the other tree.
Setting the selection priority to Design Items also works with the side-by-side trees, so you can select the objects in the Design Tree instead of the Model Tree.
The Design Tree has an independent Auto Locate in Tree option that is synchronized with the Model Tree. If you select this option, any selection in the Model Tree is located, shown, and highlighted in the Design Tree, and vice versa.
