About Designing in Sheetmetal Design
You can use both solid and sheet metal applications to create a sheet metal design. Be sure to keep in mind your design intent and feature creation order throughout the design process. You can create the following sheet metal features:
Notch and Punch—Create templates to cut and add relief to sheet metal walls.
Sheetmetal Walls—Create the sheet metal material that is the base of your design.
Bend, Unbend, Bend Back—Use to alternate between bent and unbent states.
Flat Pattern—Flatten an entire sheet metal part for manufacture.
Form, Flatten Form—Create complex sheet metal shapes and flatten them for manufacture.
Rip—Add rip relief to control the sheet metal deformation.
Extruded Cut—Remove material from the sheet metal wall.
Split Area—Control sheet metal stretching.
Conversion—Convert a solid part into a sheet metal part for manufacture.
Edge Bend—Round box-edges.
Corner Relief—Add corner relief to control sheet metal deformation.
You can also add other standard features including chamfers, holes, rounds, and solid cuts and perform operations such as pattern, copy, and mirror. Use inheritance features to support multiple manufacturing requirements.
