How the Move tool works
Use the Move tool for one of two options:
• Remove selected geometry and place it in a new location.
• Create a copy of the selected geometry and move the copy to a new location.
You can move the geometry selection more than once, and multiple move steps are stacked in one feature. A translation and a rotation move can be included in one step, as they are independent of each other.
Selecting items to move
You can select the following items to move:
• Surfaces—One or more surfaces.
• Curves—One or more curves.
• Datums—One or more datums. The default datums at the top of the Model Tree are always copied, and the copy moves to a new location.
• Bodies—One or more bodies.
Methods for moving geometry
You can move geometry in one of three ways:
• Using the dragger—Moves the selected geometry in an ordered sequence of rigid translations and rotations. Each time you reposition the dragger, you create a new step.
• Creating dimensions (distance or angle)—Moves selected geometry using a set of dimensions that can be modified. A single move feature can contain up to three linear nonparallel dimensions or a single angular (rotation) dimension.
• Specifying constraints—Moves selected geometry using a set of constraints that partially or fully define the position and orientation of the geometry selection. You can place the geometry in the approximate position using the dragger before you specify constraints.
