About the PTC Mathcad Prime Analysis and PTC Mathcad Prime Analysis Feature
You can use a PTC Mathcad Prime file to define the analysis that you want to perform on a Creo Parametric model. To access a PTC Mathcad Prime analysis, click > .
You can also create an analysis feature driven by the PTC Mathcad Prime analysis. The PTC Mathcad Prime analysis determines which parameters will be created as a result of this analysis feature. To create an analysis feature, click > and select Prime Analysis as the analysis type.
You can create
a PTC Mathcad output file identical to the
PTC Mathcad Prime file used to define the analysis feature, but evaluated based on updated values of the dimensions and parameters used in the analysis. You can also create
datum points, a datum curve, and a datum coordinate system | • You can use a PTC Mathcad Prime analysis in Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0 M130 or later with PTC Mathcad Prime. • If you create and save a PTC Mathcad Prime analysis to a PART in Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0 M130 or later, you cannot retrieve that PART in earlier versions of Creo Parametric. To retrieve such a PART in an earlier version of Creo Parametric, remove the PTC Mathcad Prime analysis feature from the PART in Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0 M130 or later. • When you close a PTC Mathcad Prime analysis or quit Creo Parametric, all instances of PTC Mathcad Prime are automatically closed. |
To perform an analysis, you must first load a
PTC Mathcad Prime worksheet file in a
PTC Mathcad Prime analysis and map
Creo Parametric parameters or dimensions to
PTC Mathcad Prime variables. For information on mapping, see
About Mapping Names of Variables or Parameters.
To map a Creo Parametric parameter or dimension to a PTC Mathcad Prime assignment variable, assign the PTC Mathcad Prime variables as input. When you assign a PTC Mathcad Prime variable as input, the PTC Mathcad Prime variable gets the value of the Creo Parametric parameter or dimension. Note that you must assign those regions as input that have a numeric definition type such as x:=45.78 in, where x is a PTC Mathcad Prime assignment variable and in is the units.
| Although the PTC Mathcad Prime assignment variables take the values of the Creo Parametric parameters or dimensions, these values are not updated in the PTC Mathcad Prime worksheet file after completion of the analysis. |
For PTC Mathcad Prime variables to be available for computation in Creo Parametric, you must assign the PTC Mathcad Prime variables as output. When you assign a PTC Mathcad Prime variable as output, the PTC Mathcad Prime variable gets the value of the computed Creo Parametric parameter. This computed value is updated in the PTC Mathcad Prime worksheet file used for the analysis. Note that you must assign the regions that have a numeric result type such as y=70.92 in, where y is a PTC Mathcad Prime results variable and in is the units.
When you map Creo Parametric parameters or dimensions to PTC Mathcad Prime assignment variables, the PTC Mathcad Prime variables in the math region that have been assigned as inputs appear in the Input Selection dialog box. Similarly, when you map PTC Mathcad Prime variables to Creo Parametric, the PTC Mathcad Prime variables in the math region that have been assigned as output appear in the Outputs Selection dialog box.
After you have assigned the PTC Mathcad Prime variables and saved the PTC Mathcad Prime worksheet, load the worksheet file in a analysis and map the required Creo Parametric parameters and dimensions to the PTC Mathcad Prime variables for the analysis.
You can also perform a unidirectional PTC Mathcad Prime analysis by selecting either PTC Mathcad Prime assignment or results variables. Using PTC Mathcad Prime, you can compute values and use these values as regular Creo Parametric features for modeling and analyses.
Use the mathcad_analysis_directory configuration option to set the default directory for the PTC Mathcad Prime files used in analysis calculations.
| However, while creating a PTC Mathcad Prime analysis feature, the PTC Mathcad Prime files should be placed in the Creo Parametric working directory. |
When you retrieve a PTC Mathcad Prime analysis or when a PTC Mathcad Prime analysis feature is regenerated, Creo Parametric searches for PTC Mathcad Prime files in the following order:
• In the PDM Workspace if in linked session
• In the directory specified by the mathcad_analysis_directory configuration option
• In the Creo Parametric working directory
• In the Creo Parametric startup directory
