About Updating TIM Models
Use the > > > command in the Creo application such as Creo Parametric to verify whether the Translated Image Models (TIMs) are up-to-date or out-of-date with the non-native source CAD documents. You can then use the > > > command to update the out-of-date TIMs.

If you use > in the workspace, you can only update the workspace status of the TIMs, not their geometry. You must subsequently use the > > > command for a complete update of the TIMs that includes their geometry and the ATB status.

You can use > in the workspace to update the workspace status of an out-of-date TIM, a source CAD document, or both the source CAD document and the TIM as follows:
• When you update a TIM when it is in session, you are prompted to replace the file of the TIM. If you do not replace the file, Check Status verifies the status of the TIM as out-of-date. When you replace the file of the TIM in the workspace, you are prompted to replace the TIM in the session of the Creo application. You are also prompted to replace the TIM in session when you update the source and the TIM. Whether you replace the TIM in the session of the Creo application or not, you must use the Check Status command to verify the status of the new iteration of the TIM. The update of the TIM does not update the non-native source CAD document because the update command considers it as an optional and not an essential dependent and Check Status verifies the status of the TIM as out-of-date.
• Whether you replace the TIM in the session of the Creo application or not, Check Status verifies the status of the TIM as out-of-date. If you replace the source and its TIM in a session of the Creo application, you must use the Check Status command to verify the status of the TIM with the new iteration of the source CAD document.
• If the source CAD document in the workspace is out-of-date with the TIM, you can update it with > in the workspace. This task only updates the workspace status of the TIM. It does not update the geometry of the CAD model and Check Status verifies the status of its TIMs as out-of-date. To maintain data integrity and prevent data corruption, you cannot update new or checked out sources in the workspace.
You must subsequently use the > > > command to update the TIMs. When update is successful, the out-of-date status of the CAD models is reset to up-to-date. As it is the Creo application that resets the out-of-date status of a TIM, the out-of-date status is maintained in the local cache and depends on the iteration of the source CAD document in the workspace.
