About Revising CAD Documents, WTParts, and Family Table Members
The revision and checkout of a non-native CAD object or a family table member can result in the revision and checkout of all the WTParts associated with the CAD object or all the family table instances related to the family table member. The Conflicts dialog box opens when you try to modify a CAD object or a family table member. You can then select the relevant option on the Conflicts dialog box to revise and check out all the WTParts associated with the CAD object or all the family table members related to the family table member. On the server side, you can set preferences to revise and check out all the associated WTParts or the entire family table when you revise and modify a CAD object or a family table member. If you use the CAD objects collector or the family table collector, the revise and checkout operation is performed only on those associated WTParts or family table members that you include in the relevant collector.
You must register Windchill 9.1 servers or later servers in the Creo application to retrieve the Creo-supported non-native CAD objects. The CAD documents may have an Owner or Content association, or both, with the relevant WTParts and you may want to synchronize the revision of the CAD documents and WTParts with an Owner association. However, the preference set on the server-side does not differentiate Owner and Content associations when WTParts are included for a revise operation in the relevant collector. A revise operation, therefore, revises both associations. The WTParts are automatically added to the workspace and you do not have to check them out. If an associated WTPart is not available, the revise operation fails. You can then use the Revise option from workspace. WTParts are revised by default and the latest iteration of the latest or an older revision of an object is revised. You can also set server-side preferences for the automatic selection of the next available Revision labels.
Similarly, you can set server-side preferences to revise all the members of a family table when you select one member and click File > Check In > Revise and Check Out. The Conflicts dialog box opens when you begin modifying a member of a family table and you can select the Revise and Check Out Entire Family option to revise and check out all members of the family table together with the family table member selected for the revise and checkout operation. All members of the family table are revised even if they are not present in the workspace. Those members not present in the workspace are automatically added to the workspace. A revise operation can fail if you cannot access any one member. You can then use Revise in the Creo browser for such instances.
