About Resetting Validation Data and Recalculating Validation Score
After you verify the import status and the validation results of imported models in the Import Validation Report, you can reset the import validation data to default values, as required. You can click Settings in the Import Validation Report and click Reset on the Import Validation Settings dialog box to reset volume, surface area, and COG validation properties to their default values. Tolerance values of volume, surface area, and COG validation properties are reset to their default values in the Max tolerance column of the Import Validation Settings dialog box when you click Reset on the Import Validation Settings dialog box.
You can click Settings in the Import Validation Report and edit the tolerance values and modify the severity of the import failure in the Import Validation Report as follows:
Edit the tolerance values of volume, surface area, and COG validation properties within the maximum tolerance allowed for each property in Max tolerance.
Change the severity of the import failure for each validation property and model from Error to Warning or Ignore in the In case of failure list.
Model regeneration or an ATB update can remove validation properties. If you select the Status to Warning if property not available check box, you can set a warning status for a validation property that is missing in the model.
*
The validation property that is missing in the model must be a property that is supported for import by the file format. For example, the NX file format only supports the property of volume for transfer. No warning is issued when the COG properties are missing in the NX model because NX does not support the COG properties.
Resetting the validation parameter values recalculates the import validation score of the models. After you have reset or edited the validation data, you can click OK in the Import Validation Settings dialog box to recalculate the validation score.
The validation property values are also recalculated when you regenerate the imported features and models or associatively update the out-of-date Translated Image Model (TIM) parts and assemblies. However, the validation property values are not recalculated if the TIM assemblies are up-to-date when you initiate an associative update. The associative update only recalculates the validation property values of the out-of-date components of an assembly.
For assembly models, the reset and recalculated values of the validation properties are recursively applied to its components. However, the recalculation of the validation score of a component does not automatically recalculate the validation score of the parent assembly. For instance, the PTC_VAL_IMP_MISSING_COMP_COUNT parameter reports the total number of missing part and subassembly components of an assembly, beginning with its lowest branch. Assemblies with missing components, including non-native assemblies opened using Creo Unite, display a validation score of FAIL, even if the missing components are replaced by the placeholder models.
For formats that support Associative Topology Bus (ATB), you can use the Check Status and Update ATB commands to locate and restore the missing part and subassembly components of the imported assemblies. However, the validation score of the parent assembly is not recalculated when the validation score of the restored components are recalculated. To recalculate and update the validation score of the parent assembly, you must click Update in the Import Validation Report after you use the ATB Check Status and Update commands to locate the missing components, replace the placeholder models in the parent assembly with the located components, and restore the missing part and subassembly components.
