About Missing Assembly Components and Placeholder Files
When you import multifile assemblies, some subassemblies and part components of assemblies may skip import. When subassemblies and part components of large assemblies skip import, Creo creates empty placeholder model files in place of the missing components. The empty placeholder part and subassembly models maintain the assembly structure when components skip import and allow you to update the assemblies until the missing components are found. You are then warned about the part and subassembly files that skipped the import.
Missing part and subassembly components are empty part and assembly models. They do not allow the creation of features. The missing part and subassembly components of the imported assemblies display the following icons on the Model Tree:
for the missing subassembly components.
for the missing part components.
for the broken links caused by the missing components if you enabled Associative Topology Bus (ATB) before the import of the assemblies.
The empty placeholder part and subassembly models remain empty until you find the missing component files and import them as master representations. If you configure the import profile to use the part and assembly template files, these template files are applied when the missing components are found and you perform an ATB update to import the missing components as master representations.
For ATB-enabled assemblies imported as Translated Image Models (TIMs), you can use the ATB Check Status and Update commands to locate and restore the missing part and subassembly TIM components. ATB locates the missing TIM components based on their source file names and path stored as the ATB information of the TIMs. Use the atb_search_path configuration option to add the location of the source files of the missing TIM components to the ATB search path before you use these ATB commands. You can set the extend_cvpath configuration option for CADDS 5 models. Alternatively, you can locate the missing components and copy them to the import folder before you use the ATB Check Status and Update commands.
