About the Mirror Assembly Component Chooser User Interface
When you mirror an assembly, you can use the Advanced command to open the Component Chooser dialog box. Use it to determine how to mirror the components of the selected assembly. The Component Chooser consists of the following user interface items:
Menus
Model Tree
Model Graphics
Shortcut menus
Display buttons
File Name Generation area
Menus
File—Contains the following options:
Save—Saves the original names and the new names to a file.
Load—Overwrites the new names with names from an existing file.
Tree—Contains the following option:
Highlight Model check box—Highlights components selected in the Model Tree in the Model Graphics window when selected.
Action—Sets the action in the Action column. The following actions are available:
Mirror Geometry—Creates a new mirrored component.
Reuse—Reuses the original component.
Reuse Mirror Twin—Uses an existing twin component that is a mirrored copy of the component. Available when a twin component is found in the assembly.
Exclude—Excludes the component from the operation.
In addition, you have the option to request an action based on the results of an existing symmetry analysis.
Reuse Symmetric Components—Reuses symmetrical components and twin components when possible.
Symmetry Analysis—Use the following options to perform symmetry analysis and choose the features to include in the analysis.
Perform Symmetry Analysis—Performs symmetry analysis on the assembly. When components are selected, the symmetry analysis is performed only on the selected components.
Consider in analysis—Sets the following options to include in the symmetry analysis: Quilts, Datums, and Curves.
Model Tree
The following commands are available:
Show—Sets the display of components in the Component Chooser Model Tree.
Check All—Displays all components.
Mirrored Geometry—Displays components with mirrored geometry.
Reused—Displays components with unchanged names.
Reuse Mirror Twin—Displays components with a twin existing mirrored component.
Excluded—Displays components excluded from the mirrored assembly.
Asymmetric—Displays asymmetric components
Symmetric—Displays symmetric components.
Antisymmetric—Displays anti-symmetric components.
Pending Analysis—Displays components before symmetry analysis.
Not Applicable—Displays components that are not applicable for symmetry analysis.
Search box—Searches in expanded nodes for the component typed in the box.
Select—Includes the following commands:
Advanced Search—Opens the Search Tool dialog box for selection of components from the main window.
Select in main window—Enables component selection from the main window.
—Sets the Component Chooser Tree options.
Columns—Displays the default columns available, select or clear a check box to add or remove columns. Click More to open the Model Tree Columns dialog box. Add or remove information columns.
Expand All—Expands all the Component Chooser Tree component nodes.
Expand To Selected—Expands the tree to see the components selected in the preview window.
Collapse All—Collapses all component nodes of the Component Chooser Tree.
Save Tree—Saves the Component Chooser Tree to a text file.
The Model Tree columns are set using the Columns options. The following columns are available by default in the Model Tree:
The first column contains the structure of the original assembly.
Symmetry represent asymmetric components found during symmetry analysis. represent symmetric components found during symmetry analysis. These components can be reused using Smart position. represent anti-symmetric components that are found during symmetry analysis. These components can be reused as mirror twin components. represent components that are not applicable for analysis.
Action—Shows the action that will be applied on the component:
Mirror Geometry—Creates a mirrored copy of the component.
Reuse—Reuses the component.
Reuse Mirror Twin—Reuses a twin, anti-symmetric, component that is a mirror copy of the component.
Exclude—Excludes the component from the mirrored assembly.
Position—Displays a position option when a reused component is included in the mirror assembly. The default position of symmetric components when symmetry analysis is performed is Smart. Additional options are available to use, but Smart is the only position that guarantees perfect mirror results. These options are primarily for positioning reused components that are not symmetric. The three options with the prefix I_ are the best symmetry guess after analysis for the reused components. Click the check box to see a preview of the component’s position in the mirrored assembly.
New File Name—Displays the new file name of a component.
Dep. Placement—Updates the placement of the component in the mirror assembly when the placement changes in the original assembly.
Dep. Geometry—Updates the geometry of the component in the mirror assembly when the original geometry changes. This option is selected by default for the top-level assembly and all components in the assembly.
Model Graphics
The Model Graphics window displays graphics for the types of components for the selected Show options.
Show—Sets the display of components in the preview window.
Check All—Displays all components.
Mirrored Geometry—Displays components with mirrored geometry.
Reused—Displays components with unchanged names.
Reuse Mirror Twin—Displays components with a twin existing mirrored component.
Excluded—Displays components excluded from the mirrored assembly.
Asymmetric—Displays asymmetric components
Symmetric—Displays symmetric components.
Antisymmetric—Displays anti-symmetric components.
Pending Analysis—Displays components before symmetry analysis.
Not Applicable—Displays components that are not include in the symmetry analysis.
—Sets the display of components in the preview window.
Show Hidden—Displays hidden components.
Auto highlight on selection—Highlights selected components.
Auto update preview—Automatically updates components.
Update Preview—Shows updated components. This option is available when Auto update preview is not active.
Shortcut Menu Commands
To access shortcut menus, right-click the assembly or a component in the Component Chooser Tree or preview window.
Mirror Geometry—Mirrors the geometry of the selected component.
Reuse—Reuses the original, symmetric, component in the copied or mirrored assembly.
Reuse Mirror Twin—Reuses a twin, mirrored component, of this component.
Exclude—Excludes the component from the mirrored assembly.
