To Position a Project Subassembly
1. In the Position Subassembly dialog box, follow either of the methods below to position a project assembly:
◦ Under
Reference Method, click

to position the subassembly on a straight curve or edge. The first box under
Curve or edge is activated. In the model, select a straight datum curve or edge or click

next to the
Curve or edge box, to use the
Creo Parametric sketcher tool to create a sketch with one straight line.
◦ Under
Reference Method, click

to position subassembly between two points. The
Start point box is activated. In the model select a datum point or vertex, or click

next to the
Start point box, and use
Creo Parametric to create a datum point feature with one or two datum points. The
End point box is activated.
◦ In the model, select a datum point or vertex or click

, next to the
End point box, and use
Creo Parametric to create a datum point feature with one datum point.
A preview of the subassembly appears.
2. To change the default orientation plane, click the
Orientation plane box and select a plane on the model that is parallel to the curve or edge on which you intend to assemble the subassembly. You also can click

next to the
Orientation plane box and use
Creo Parametric to create a datum plane feature.
3. To move the subassembly, click one of the options listed below:
◦ 
—Offsets the subassembly by specific values
◦ 
—Resets the subassembly position
4. To rotate the subassembly click one of the options listed below:
◦ 
—Rotates the subassembly by the angle indicated
◦ 
—Rotates the subassembly by the angle indicated
◦ 
—Rotates the subassembly by a specific value
◦ 
—Toggles the subassembly start and end point
5. To change the default name of the subassembly, type a new name in the Filename box.
6. Repeat the above steps until the subassembly is previewed in the desired position.
7. Click one of the options listed below to continue:
◦ OK to complete subassembly positioning and close the dialog box.
◦ Repeat to complete subassembly positioning without closing the dialog box and continue with the positioning of another subassembly.
◦ Cancel to cancel subassembly positioning and close dialog box.
| After selecting valid references to position the subassembly, it is displayed as a temporary preview until you complete or cancel subassembly positioning. |
