About the Sketched Rip User Interface
The Sketched Rip user interface consists of commands, tabs, and shortcut menus. To access the Sketched Rip tool, click Sheetmetal > Rip > Sketched Rip.
Commands
—Projects the sketch to one side, the other side, or both sides of the sketching plane.
—Rips the material normal to the driving surface.
—Rips the material normal to the offset surface.
—Flips the area to rip to the other side of the sketch.
Tabs
Placement
Use this tab to display the selected sketch reference in the collector. Click Define to open Sketcher to create a sketch. Click Edit to open Sketcher to edit an existing sketch.
Options
Use this tab to exclude selected surfaces from the rip. The reference collector displays the type of reference selected.
Details—Opens the Surface Sets dialog box to control surface selection.
Properties
Use this tab to display detailed feature information.
Name—Shows a feature name.
—Shows feature information in a browser.
Shortcut Menus
Right-click the graphics window to access the shortcut commands:
Sketch—Activates the sketch collector.
Excluded Surfaces—Activates the excluded surfaces collector.
Clear—Removes the reference from the active collector.
Define Internal Sketch—Opens Sketcher to create a sketch.
Edit Internal Sketch—Opens Sketcher to edit an existing sketch.
Show Section Dimensions—Displays the section dimensions in the graphics window.
Hide Section Dimensions—Hides the display of the section dimensions in the graphics window.
Flip Projection Direction—Projects the sketched rip to the other side of the reference plane.
Flip Rip Side—Switches the area to rip to the other side of the sketch.
Right-click the Projection Direction handle to access the following commands:
Flip—Projects the sketched rip to the other side of the reference plane.
Both Sides—Projects the sketched rip to both sides of the reference plane.
Right-click the Rip Normal Direction handle to access the following commands:
Normal to Driving Surface—Creates the rip normal to the driving surface.
Normal to Offset Surface—Creates the rip normal to the offset surface.
