About the Model Tree Settings
In Creo Parametric 6. 0 and later, Model Tree settings are automatically saved to a *.ui file for the subtypes of models listed below:

The Model Tree settings in the *.ui file are then applied in the subsequent Creo Parametric session of the same model type. If in the subsequent session, the configuration option mdl_tree_cfg_file is set to use the *.cfg file, and you open a model of the same type for which settings are stored in the *.ui file, the following occurs:
A warning message appears.
The Model Tree settings in the *.cfg file are ignored and the Model Tree settings in the *.ui file are applied.
Setting Up the Model Tree
From the Model Tree Columns dialog box, you can set and preserve the width of the Model Tree, the first column in the Navigator.
In the Model Tree Columns dialog box, you cannot move the Model Tree from Displayed to Not Displayed, nor can it be reordered.
You can add columns and keep the Model Tree column at the default width or the width you set. Toggle the visibility of the additional columns without changing the width of the Model Tree column:
—Hides the additional columns. Only the Model Tree column is visible.
—Shows the Model Tree column and the selected additional columns.
The width of the graphics window adjusts to the width of the Model Tree with the additional columns.
Importing and Exporting Model Tree Settings
You can import and export the tree settings from the Settings list in the Model Tree
Import Settings File—Import settings for *.ui and *.cfg files.
When importing a *.ui file, you can load the Model Tree settings for the type of model on which you are working, or you can load settings for all types of models, regardless of the current model.
When importing a *.cfg file, only the Model Tree settings for the type of model on which you are working are loaded.
*
If the custom settings already exist, and you import the *.ui file, the imported settings are ignored if they are the same as the existing settings. If the imported settings are different from the existing settings, the imported settings are appended to the existing settings. However, when importing *.cfg file, if the same settings are already existing, the imported settings override the existing settings.
Export Settings File—Export *.ui and *.cfg files. By default, the exported file is saved as a *.ui file. When exporting Model Tree settings, only the tree settings are exported. Ribbon customization settings are not exported.
Resetting the Model Tree
Reset is available in the Model Tree Items and Model Tree Columns dialog boxes.
Use Reset to restore the default user or administrator Model Tree settings. The Model Tree settings are reset for the type of model on which you are currently working. For example, if you are working with a manufacturing model, the Model Tree settings for manufacturing models are reset to the default.
The Reset Tree Settings options are available in the Settings list on the Model Tree:
Reset Tree Settings—Resets tree settings for the type of model that is in session.
Reset All Trees Settings—Resets tree settings for all model types, regardless of what model type is in session.
