About Automatically Mapping 2D Views to 3D Views
For an active drawing and its model in session, LDA automatically maps the 2D views on the drawing to the 3D views of the model when you click Map > Create Model Views  on the Legacy Migration tab or right-click the drawing and access Create Model Views on the resultant menu. Model views are automatically created based on the 2D views of the active drawing. The association of the 2D views and the 3D model views also includes the automatic orientation and placement of the 3D model views relative to the 2D views on the drawing.
The Legacy Drawing Associator (LDA) performs the following tasks for the active drawing and the model in session:
Creates the default datum planes in the model if you did not use a template file for the import of the model.
Creates three named views in the model based on the three default datum planes.
Examines the drawing file for the 2D views defined and verifies the relative positions and alignments of the 2D views, both horizontally and vertically.
Orients the contents of each new view based on the named views in the model.
LDA determines the orientation of the model and scales the model relative to the 2D views on the drawing. It removes the entities of each 2D view without disturbing the notes, dimensions, or annotations. LDA removes or hides the 2D entities even if you had selected the Import Associative Dimensions option in the Import 2D dialog box and the annotations are currently associated with the 2D draft geometry. It then projects the geometry from the model on to the 2D views of the drawing, especially while mapping the auxiliary views of part drawings. LDA creates a new 3D view that is a general view. It orients and scales this view to match the contents of the 2D view on the drawing. LDA then completes mapping the drawing views with the model views.
When LDA does not map a view, particularly isometric views, you can interactively orient and place the view so that it is mapped to the 3D model view. You can thus automatically and interactively map all the 2D views until the total number of views on the imported drawing match the number of mapped views. When at least one view is mapped, all the annotations of the mapped view are automatically mapped when you click Map > Copy Annotations on the Legacy Migration tab or right-click and access Copy Annotations on the resultant menu. LDA maps all the annotations on the drawing when all the 2D views on the drawing that contain annotations, dimensions, and notes are mapped to the 3D model views.
