About Importing and Exporting Parts, Assemblies, and Drawings to MEDUSA
You can export Detail drawings to MEDUSA. Detail drawings are exported as MEDUSA sheets. Use the File > Save As > Save a Copy or the File > Save As > Export command in the Drawing mode for the export. MEDUSA is available as an export deliverable format with other supported 2D formats on the Export Setup tab. The Export Setup tab allows you to preview the drawings with their export settings in the graphics window before you export the drawings.
You can also export solid model information about parts and assemblies to MEDUSA. Geometry is exported to MEDUSA as tessellated data. MEDUSA exports to an ASCII-based .asc file for visualization purposes. The coordinate systems of the model that exist on visible layers are exported to MEDUSA with the tessellated geometry. If the coordinate systems lie on blanked layers, they are not exported and are ignored during the export. Use the exported coordinate systems in the MEDUSA Plant Design (MPD) tool for routed systems references. You can create and use export profiles for the export of 3D models to MEDUSA. Export log files are automatically generated in the working directory.
You can import tessellated *.asc MEDUSA files as faceted data. You can open Creo parts and click Model > Get Data > Import to import MEDUSA part models and insert them in the Creo parts. You can use import profiles for the import and append tasks. Import log files are automatically generated in the working directory when the import is complete. During the import and the append tasks, you can set units for the MEDUSA files. The units are available as import options on the Misc tab of the import profiles. The units you set remain in the imported models after import.
