To Pattern Welds
Best practices exist to duplicate each weld type. You can also use the Pattern tool to pattern welds.
To Pattern Fillet and Groove or Butt Welds
During fillet, groove, and butt weld creation, you can create several welds within one weld feature:
• On the Location tab of the Fillet Weld, Groove Weld, or Butt Weld tab, create multiple reference sets.
To Pattern Plug and Slot Welds
During plug and slot weld creation, you can pattern a weld:
• On the
Location tab of the
Plug/Slot Weld tab, select the
Follow Pattern check box. This option is available only when you select
to define the weld by base plane and contour chains, and you select a contour from a feature that is part of a pattern.
To Pattern Spot Welds
During spot weld creation, you can use pitch welding functionality to pattern a weld:
• On the Location tab of the Spot Weld tab, select the Pitch welding check box, select a Direction Reference, and type or select values for Number of welds and Spacing.
Using the Pattern Tool
Spot welds are the only welds for which you can create a dimension pattern. You can create reference patterns for all weld types.
1. Right-click a weld feature in the Model Tree or graphics window and choose
Pattern. The Pattern tool opens.

2. Define a pattern for the weld.
3. Click
. The pattern feature is listed in the Model Tree. The first weld in the pattern is the original weld.
