About Dimensions
Using Insert > Dimensions, you can create standard or ordinate dimensions. You can also perform various procedures on dimensions (such as aligning, clipping, or breaking).
Draft Dimensions
Using drawing setup file options, you can make draft dimensions associative, specify the character marking the decimal point in secondary dimensions, and control the positioning of dimension text relative to the leader lines.
Associative Dimensions
If you want draft dimensions in the drawing to be associative, set the drawing setup file option associative_dimensioning to yes. You cannot reset the associativity status of existing draft dimensions; changing the option affects only new dimensions. To update associative draft dimensions with changes in geometry, use Regen Draft on theLegacy Dwg menu.
Decimal Point
The drawing setup file option decimal_marker specifies the character marking the decimal point in secondary dimensions.
Text Orientation
Using the drawing setup file option text_orientation, you can control the positioning of dimension text relative to the leader lines. For parallel placement, you can set the drawing setup file option parallel_dim_placement to specify whether the dimension values display above or below the leaders. This option does not apply to dual dimensions.
