About Mold or Cast Model Files
You use Mold Design and Casting to create molds, castings, and layouts that are used by various manufacturing processes. A typical mold or cast model is made up of the following parts and assemblies:
• One or more reference models
• One or more workpieces or die blocks
• Mold or die components used as cavity inserts
• Additional mold or cast features
• Sand cores for cast models
• Mold or cast results
When you save a model, a modelname.asm file is created. Several additional files may be created for extracted components and molding or casting parts. You access a mold or cast model using the .asm file.
