About RULA Analyses
A RULA (Rapid Upper Limb Assessment) analysis is a standard ergonomics tool that defines and quantifies a manikin's posture according to selected parameters. Some task parameters are extracted directly from the current manikin's posture, while you enter others. A RULA analysis is used mainly for general handling tasks such as tool or object handling.
A RULA analysis gathers data to calculate risk as follows:
• Arm positions
• Trunk support
• Leg and foot support and balance
Select or clear the task parameter check boxes in the RULA Analysis dialog box. RULA scores are presented as follows:
• 1 or 2—Acceptable
• 3 or 4—Needs further investigation
• 5 or 6—Needs further investigation and modification
• 7—Needs further investigation and immediate modification
