Sub-Harness
You can perform the following operations on the sub-harness:
To Create a Sub-Harness
1. Activate the harness in which you want to create a sub-harness.
2. In the Harness overflow menu, click Sub-Harness. The Sub-Harness tab opens.
3. Add wires, cables, or ribbons for the sub-harness by selecting them in the graphics window or from the Model Tree.
4. Click OK to create the sub-harness.
To Display a Sub-Harness on the Model Tree
1. In the Model Tree click > Tree Filters. The Tree Filter dialog box opens.
2. Under General Items, click the Features check box.
3. Click OK.
4. Click the active harness assembly on the Model Tree.
5. Click Footer under the active harness part. The sub-harness is displayed on the Model Tree under Footer.
To Activate and Deactivate a Sub-Harness
1. Select a sub-harness in the Model Tree.
2. Right-click and click to activate the sub-harness or click to deactivate the sub-harness.
To Add Wires and Cables to a Sub-harness
1. In the Model Tree, select the sub-harness, right-click, and click Edit Definition.
2. In the Sub-Harness tab, add cables and wires by selecting them in the graphics window or the Model Tree.
3. Click OK.
To Remove Wires and Cables from a Sub-harness
1. In the Model Tree, select the sub-harness, right-click, and click Edit Definition.
2. In the Sub-Harness tab, right-click the wires or cables, and click Remove or Remove All.
3. Click OK.
To Display Cables in a Sub-harness
1. In the Model Tree, select the sub-harness, right-click, and click Show Cables.
2. Click Show Cables. The INFORMATION WINDOW appears listing all cables in the selected sub-harness.
To Add a Sub-harness to the Layer Tree
1. In the Model Tree click > Layer Tree.
2. In the Layer Tree click > New Layer. The Layer Properties dialog box opens.
3. Type a name for the layer in the Name box and select the sub-harness from the model tree.
4. In the Place External Item dialog box select on which layers to place the sub-harness and click OK. The sub-harness is added to the Layer Tree.

The wires referenced by the sub-harness are not listed in the layer properties.
When you add or remove wires and cables from the sub-harness, the layer is updated automatically.
