Using Presets to Create Features
Use presets to repeat the same settings that you defined recently, or that you saved, when you created the same type of feature.
When a tool that can use presets is open, click Presets to open the Feature Presets tab.
A preset consists of dimension values and other attributes. The references are not included. Feature relations are usually ignored, unless they are essential to the feature definition.
In the Extrude and Revolve features, you can save the internal or external section sketch in the preset.
Create presets to use later
Presets can be created in the following ways:
Recently used settings
When you create a feature during the current session, the system saves an entry in the Recently Used list.
If a preset entry with the same name is listed, then that entry is updated according to the current feature definition, and the feature moves to the top of the Recently Used list.
If a preset entry with the same name is not listed, then the settings that you use are automatically added as a preset under Recently Used.
Up to five recently used presets are stored. After five presets, when a new preset is added, the oldest preset is deleted.
Save the settings of the current feature definition
You can save the settings at any time during the preset definition, even before the definition is complete. Some definitions cannot be saved, and the Save Preset command will not be available in these cases.
a. Define the feature settings.
b. While the feature tool is still open, click Presets to open the Feature Presets tab.
c. Click Save Preset. The Feature Preset dialog box opens.
d. Optionally, edit the name or description of the preset. Each saved preset entry should have a unique name.
e. Click OK. The settings of the current definition are saved as a new preset entry that appears under Saved Presets.
Use a preset to create a feature
When you create a feature, reuse the settings of a feature of the same type that you created previously. Use either of the following presets:
Recently Used—Applies the settings of a feature that you created in the current session to another feature of the same type.
Saved Presets—Applies the settings of a feature that you saved to another feature of the same type.
To use a preset, do one of these things:
From inside the feature creation tool:
a. Open the feature creation tool.
b. While the feature tool is open, click Presets to open the Feature Presets tab.
c. Under Recently Used or Saved Presets, select the preset that you want to apply to the feature that you are creating.
d. Right-click the preset entry and select Apply, or double-click the entry.
e. At any time during feature definition, if you want to reset the definition of the current feature to the system settings, click Reset. These settings are determined based on the current references.
From the Model tab:
a. On the Model tab, right-click the command of the feature creation tool. A list of all the Saved preset entries, and the newest Recently Used preset entries, appears.
b. To apply the preset settings to the new feature, select the desired preset entry.
