Example: Plug or Slot Weld
When you define a plug or slot weld, you first define a base plane. Then you select either side surfaces or contours to define the second reference. The following examples show a slot weld defined using a base plane and side surfaces.
• Surface weld with
specified depth value
The weld depth is measured relative to the base plane.
1. Base plane
2. Side surfaces of the slot weld
3. Face of the weld
4. Depth of the weld measured from the base plane
The next figure shows a cross section of the weld.
• Surface weld that
intersects all surfaces
• Solid weld with
specified depth value
The weld depth is measured relative to the base plane.
• Solid weld that
intersects all surfaces
