Warp > Stretch Operation > To Stretch Geometry
To Stretch Geometry
1. Click Editing > Warp. The Warp tab opens.
2. Select bodies, including bodies that contain simplified or homogenized lattices, quilts, facets, or curves to stretch.
3. Click Stretch to display the stretch settings and to display the stretch marquee.
4. Click Next Axis until you see the axis aligned in the direction that you want to stretch the geometry. Alternatively, right-click and select Next Axis.
5. If required, click Flip Direction to reverse the direction of the stretch axis. Alternatively, right-click and select Reverse Axis.
6. To define the stretch scale, next to Scale, perform one of the following actions
To define the stretch scale in relation to the selected direction reference with a value, do one of the following:
Type a value next to By Value.
Drag the handle.
Click to export the parameter value to edit outside of Warp.
To snap the stretched geometry to a selected reference, do one of the following:
Hold down the SHIFT key while you drag the handle to a valid reference.
This locks the geometry to the selected reference. If the reference becomes unusable, you must redefine the Warp feature by selecting a new reference, or by defining the scale with a value.
Hold down the ALT key while you drag the handle to a valid reference.
This soft snaps the geometry to the selected reference. The scale value updates to the reference.
Select By Reference, and select a reference.
The following references can be used: a plane, surface, curve, axis, point, quilt, facet, or coordinate system.
7. To customize the marquee for the Stretch operation, click the Marquee tab, and set one or more of the marquee options:
References—Select optional references for the marquee.
Active Axis—Type Start and End values to determine the size of the marquee. Optionally, click to export the parameter value to edit outside of Warp.
The range depends on the Marquee Size type you selected.
Marquee Size—Select a method of measurement to set the dimensions of the active axis.
*
When you create an Absolute marquee size and use optional references, you must edit the referenced object outside of the Warp feature to change the marquee's length.
You can also modify the marquee by dragging its faces. For example, if the direction of the stretch axis is along the x-axis, drag the right and the left faces of the marquee to adjust the region for stretching. If the stretch axis is in the direction of the y-axis, drag the top and the bottom faces of the marquee to adjust the region for stretching.
8. Select any warp tool to add to the current warp feature, or click OK to complete the warp feature.
