To Change Default Relief Settings
Use the Relief page of the Sheetmetal Preferences dialog box to set default relief preferences.
1. Click File > Prepare > Model Properties. The Model Properties dialog box opens.
2. Under Sheetmetal, click change in the Relief line. The Sheetmetal Preferences dialog box opens to the Relief page.

Alternatively, you can select a body in the Model Tree, right-click and select Preferences. The Sheetmetal Preferences dialog box opens to the General page.
3. Select the part or a body from the list at the left. By default the part is selected.
4. To change corner relief settings, follow the steps in the section Changing Corner Relief Settings below.
5. To change bend relief settings, follow the steps in the section Changing Bend Relief Settings below.
6. Click OK. The model regenerates using the new settings.
Changing Corner Relief Settings
Corner relief has three settings: Type, Width, and Depth.
To change the default corner relief settings, follow the procedure below.
1. To change the corner relief type, select a different one from the Type list:
No Relief—Adds no relief and the corner retains the rip characteristic.
V Notch—Adds a square corner and the default V notch characteristic is removed.
Normal—Adds a relief from the corner up to and normal to the bend end.
Circular—Adds a circular relief.
Square—Adds a square relief.
Rectangular—Adds a rectangular relief.
Obround—Adds an obround relief.
2. For Circular, Square, Rectangular, and Obround reliefs, perform the following operations:
a. To change the corner relief width, type a value in the Width box or select a value from the list:
Thickness—Adds a relief with a width equal to the thickness of the sheet metal wall.
2.0 * Thickness—Adds a relief with a width equal to twice the thickness of the sheet metal wall.
0.5 * Thickness—Adds a relief with a width equal to half the thickness of the sheet metal wall.
Gap—Adds a relief with a width set by the SMT_DFLT_CRNR_REL_WIDTH parameter value.
b. To change the corner relief depth type, select a different type from the Depth list:
Blind—Adds the relief according to a specified value.
Up to Bend—Adds the relief up to the bend.
On Origin—Adds the relief on the intersection of the bend lines.
c. To change the corner relief depth thickness, type a value in the box or select a value from the list.
Thickness—Adds a relief with a depth equal to the thickness of the sheet metal wall.
2.0 * Thickness—Adds a relief with a depth equal to twice the thickness of the sheet metal wall.
0.5 * Thickness—Adds a relief with a depth equal to half the thickness of the sheet metal wall.
Gap—Adds a relief with a depth set by the SMT_DFLT_CRNR_REL_DEPTH parameter value.
Changing Bend Relief Settings
Bend relief has five settings: Type, Length, Width, Depth, and Angle.
To change the default bend relief settings, follow the procedure below.
1. To change the bend relief type, select a different one from the Type list:
No Relief—Adds no relief.
Rip—Adds a rip relief.
Stretch—Adds a stretch relief.
Rectangular—Adds a rectangular relief.
Obround—Adds an obround relief.
2. For Stretch relief, perform the following operations:
a. Type a value in the Width box or select a value from the list:
Thickness
2.0 * Thickness
b. Type a value in the Angle box or select a value from the list.
3. For Rectangular and Obround reliefs, perform the following operations:
a. To change the length of the bend relief, select an option from the Length list:
Blind—Adds a bend relief with a length of the specified value.
Type a value in the box or select a value from the list:
2.0 * Thickness
4.0 * Thickness
To Next—Adds a bend relief with a length to the next surface.
Through All—Adds a bend relief through all surfaces.
b. To change the bend relief width, type a value in the box or select a value from the Width list:
Thickness—Adds a relief with a width equal to the thickness of the sheet metal wall.
2.0 * Thickness—Adds a relief with a width equal to half the thickness of the sheet metal wall.
c. To change the bend relief depth type, select a different type from the Depth list:
Blind—Adds the relief according to a specified value.
Up to Bend—Adds the relief up to the bend.
Tangent to Bend—Adds the relief tangent to the bend. Available for circular relief.
All depth types share the same depth value options:
Thickness

The bend angle is set by the SMT_DFLT_BEND_REL_ANGLE parameter.
4. Click OK to apply the current settings.
5. Click Close to close the Model Properties dialog box.
