About High Speed Milling
High Speed Milling or HSM is a machining method that includes high speed rates, high spindle speeds, and specific tools. HSM from ModuleWorks provides the following sequences:
• HSM Rough
• HSM Rest Rough
• HSM Finish
• HSM Rest Finish
• Auto Deburring
• HSM 5 Axis Rough
• HSM 5 Axis Rest Rough
• Geodesic 5 Axis Finish
• Wall 5 Axis Finish
• Floor 5 Axis Finish
• HSM 4 Axis Rotary Rough
• HSM 4 Axis Rotary Finish
The following are some of the benefits of HSM Milling:
• Reduction of cutting forces
• Good surface finish
• Accurate parts
• Fast material removal
You get better results while simulating material removal if you created HSM Milling sequences.
• Support for intricately shaped solid tool holder
Intricately shaped solid tool holders are now supported in all HSM steps. This enables you to generate more accurate and collision-free toolpaths. A solid tool holder is degouged against a reference part and in-process stock.
In a session, you must add the High Speed Milling or High Speed Milling Advanced license to make the High Speed Milling group and the corresponding sequences available on the Mill tab, without a need to end the current session. With these licenses, the existing high speed milling steps also become available in the model tree. Without these licenses, the High Speed Milling group remains unavailable.
