To List, Get, or Release a Floating License
To run some Creo applications, including the applications that can be launched from the Applications tab you can use a floating license. When you open the application, if you have a valid floating license for the application, the license is checked out automatically.
Some Creo applications have automatic check-out of the floating license implemented, but manual release of the floating license is required for all applications.
Manually Checking Out or Releasing Floating Licenses
To manually check out a floating license when you launch an application that requires a floating license, carry out the following steps:
1. Click File > Options > Floating Licenses.
The Floating Licenses dialog box opens and displays all available floating licenses.
Click License Information for detailed information about available floating licenses on the license server.
2. Select the floating licenses that you require and click OK to check it out.
To manually release a floating license perform the following steps:
1. Close or exit the application.
2. Click File > Options > Floating Licenses. The Floating Licenses dialog box opens.
3. Clear the check box for the floating license that you no longer require and click OK.
You cannot exit some applications like Creo Simulation Live, Creo NC, or Creo Manikin without closing Creo as well. In such cases when you finish using the application you can manually release the license.
Checking out Basic and Advanced Licenses
Some applications have a basic license for running basic tasks within the application, and separate licenses for advanced features. In such cases when the application starts, the most basic license is checked out automatically. In case a most basic license is unavailable, then Creo shows an error message informing you that the license is not available for that application. However, in case a more advanced license is available for that application then you can check it out manually.
Freemium and Paid Licenses
Some applications like Creo Mold Analysis and Creo Manikin have both Freemium and Paid licenses. In such cases if you have a floating license for the application and the license is available, then it is automatically checked out. In case all the floating licenses are consumed then although you will be able to open the application you will only be able to use the features that are available in the free version of the application.
