About the EMX Ribbon
The Creo Expert Moldbase options are accessible from the EMX tab in the ribbon. The options available on the Creo Expert Moldbase tabs differ depending on the type of the model and its related modes in Creo Parametric.
Assembly Mode
A mold base project in Creo Expert Moldbase always starts with an assembly. Therefore, the assembly mode is the default mode. TheEMX Assembly tab contains the following groups:
• Preparation group
◦ Classify — Set up the different model types for assembly components in the
Classify dialog box.
◦ Identify trim faces — Select and designate quilts as trim surfaces for ejector pins and lifters in the
Identify trim faces dialog box.
• Project group—Create, modify, and complete projects using the following options:
◦ Create New ◦ Modify ◦ Finish • Structure group—Add and remove subassemblies to your project using the following options:
◦ Add Subassemblies ◦ Remove Subassemblies • Mold Base group—This group contains the following options:
◦ Cavity Layout — Mange cavity layout.
◦ Assembly Definition — Define the general design of the mold base in the
Assembly Definition dialog box.
◦ Cavity Cutouts — Create pockets in the cavity plates using the

◦ Component Status — Define which type of components models can be assembled or predefined in the project using in the
Component Status dialog box.
◦ Define Main Axis Offset — Define the main axis offset for off-centered mold bases using the
Define Main Axis Offset dialog box.
◦ Machine — Predefine machine parameter settings in the
Machine dialog box.
• View group—This group contains the following options:
◦ Switch between the predefined simplified representations using the following options:
▪ Fixed Half ▪ Moving Half ◦ Add component to — Add components to the predefined views.

The cavity insert assembly is a manufacturing model. Therefore some Creo Expert Moldbase commands are available in the ribbon for the Manufacturing Mode. During the preparation of the cavity insert assembly, the Classify dialog box and the Duplicate Cavity dialog box may be required. It is recommended to select trim surfaces with Identify trim faces in manufacturing model.
TheEMX Manufacturing Mode tab contains the following groups:
• Preparation group:
◦ Classify—Set up the different model types for assembly components in the
Classify dialog box.
◦ Identify trim faces—Select and designate quilts as trim surfaces for ejector pins and lifters in the
Identify trim faces dialog box.
◦ Duplicate Cavity—Create duplicate cavity insert assemblies using the
Create Insert Copies dialog box.
• Project group:
Create New — Create new projects.
Drawing Mode
The EMX Drawing Mode contains the following groups for editing of the mold base drawing:
• Documentation group:
Bill of Materials—Place BOM balloons in the drawing.
