To Edit a Study
You can edit the study definition of the Generative Design feature (GDF) and perform topology optimization again.
Usually, you edit the study definition of the GDF in the following scenarios:
To Redefine the Study and Create a New GDF
You can redefine the study by modifying the design spaces, constraints and loads, design criteria, and then create a new GDF.
1. On the Model Tree, select the GDF, and on the mini toolbar click Edit Study. The Generative Design application opens.
*
In the Generative Tree, the glyphs in front of design criteria and material indicate that these items are tied to the GDF.
2. Redefine the design spaces.
3. Modify the constraints and loads.
4. Modify the design criteria.
*
In the Generative Tree, the glyph indicates that the GDF is outdated.
In the Model Tree, the glyph indicates that the study is outdated.
5. Click Optimize to perform topology optimization.
6. Click Display Simulation Results to view simulation results.
7. Click Generate Design to create a new GDF.
*
You can replace the existing GDF in the same part or create the GDF in a new part.
To Add a Feature, Redefine the Study, and Update the GDF
Any new feature created after the GDF does not appear in the study.
To add a new feature to the study, you need to drag it above the GDF in the Model Tree, and then perform topology optimization. You can save the new GDF in the same part or in a new part. If you save the GDF in the same part, the feature is retained. If you save it in a new part, it is not retained.
1. On the Model Tree, select the GDF, and on the mini toolbar click Edit Study. The Generative Design application opens.
*
In the Generative Tree, the glyphs in front of design criteria and material indicate that these items are tied to the GDF.
2. In the Model Tree, drag the feature above the GDF. The model regenerates.
3. Redefine the study.
4. Click Optimize to perform topology optimization.
5. Click Display Simulation Results to view simulation results.
6. Do one of the following:
Click Update Design to generate the design with the last generate design definitions. The previously reconstructed geometry and all the corresponding features are deleted and the new ones are recreated in the same part.
Click Generate Design to create a new GDF in the same part or in a new part.
