Composite Design User Interface
The user interface of the Composite Design environment consists of commands arranged in groups, trees, and shortcut menus.
Open the Composite Design Environment
Open a Composite Design environment as follows:
To open a Composite Design environment for a new composite feature, create or open a part and click Engineering > Composite. The Composite Design environment opens in Composite Design tab.
To open a Composite Design environment of an existing composite feature, select the composite feature and click Edit Definition. The Composite Design environment of the selected composite feature opens in Composite Design tab.
Trees in Composite Design Environment
The Composite Design environment contains the following trees:
Composite Tree—The Composite Tree is displayed by default when you open a Composite Design environment. The Composite Tree is a list of features created in the composite feature. The features appear in the order you create them. The composite Tree also contains a setup group. The setup group lists the entities, such as composite materials in the materials group, the layup surface, and rosettes, that are essential to set up the Composite Design environment. If the setup is incomplete, you are alerted by . You can move the pointer over the alert to understand what is missing.
Laminate Tree—To display the Laminate Tree, click Laminate Tree on the Composite Tree. The Laminate Tree is a list of laminate objects, such as plies and cores, created by features in the Composite Tree. The order of laminate objects is the same as the order of their features. To change the position of a laminate object, change the position of its feature. You can use the Laminate Tree in one of three modes. To learn about the three modes, see Laminate Tree Modes
Composite Design Tree—To display the Composite Design Tree, click on the Composite Tree. The Composite Design Tree shows a list of design items, such as bodies and quilts of the composite feature.
Model Tree—The Model Tree is displayed by default along with the Composite Tree. The Model Tree is a list of items in the model, presented in a hierarchical structure, that reflects relations between the items or their order of regeneration. You can use the entities in the Model Tree when you set up the Composite Design environment and create or analyze the laminate objects.
