Using Automatic Representations
An automatic representation retrieves the minimum amount of data needed to present the assembly in the most accurate way. The system retrieves needed data on-demand when possible.
Some modes of Creo Parametric do not support automatic representations.
• Annotations—You cannot add annotations to a light surface reference. There is no on-demand retrieval of a surface for an annotation.
• Global Reference Viewer—Models in automatic representations may lack details in the Global Reference Viewer and there is no on demand retrieval when investigating references and dependencies.
• Search tool—You cannot search for items that are not available in an automatic representation, features for example. The Search tool will not find components with these items if they are not in session.
• Edit references—You can only edit references when the master model is in session.
• Drawing—You cannot add an automatic representation to a Drawing model.
• Manufacturing—Automatic representations are not supported for manufacturing models.
• External Simplified Representations—Automatic representations are not supported in external simplified representations.
When using automatic representations, it is recommended to use instance accelerators to support correct retrieval. Click the links below for more information on instance accelerators.
