Create a 3D note
Another way to add information to a model is with 3D Notes. The content of the note is completely flexible but will usually describe your design intentions about a particular feature of the model. 3D Notes can be assigned to specific categories, such as engineering and manufacturing.
It is also possible to include with a note a URL that links to further relevant information on the web or in a file. When you create an HTML report with Custom Process, URLs are listed for each note and can be accessed directly in the browser.
The 3D Note can be considered as a non-geometric design information feature, and you can also apply them directly from the Custom Process browser. When attached to a model, 3D Notes can be highlighted, renamed, shown or hidden, or included in the Custom Process report. The settings used to display 3D Notes are those for all design information features.
Because 3D Notes are features, they can reference only one feature of the model. To create a note with multiple references, use the more general Generic text (see above).
You can also create additional custom label categories.
If you are using the Creo Elements/Direct Annotation module, you can transfer 3D Notes to your drawing using the Transfer from 3D command.
To attach a 3D Note to a reference point on a model,
1. Click 3D Documentation and then, in the Annotate group, click Note. The 3D Note dialog box opens.
2. Click the element on the model to which you want to attach the 3D Note.
The text input box opens automatically.
3. Click Note, enter the 3D Note text in the 3D Note Text box, and click when you are finished.
4. Specify whether the 3D Note is to be free or to be attached to a docuplane. In the latter case, specify also the docuplane the note is to be attached to.
5. You may specify either a Reference File or a Reference URL for the note.
If you enter a Ref. URL, it will be displayed as a hyperlink in the feature report's URL column.
If you click Ref. File, the file browser opens to allow a convenient linking. File references appear in the report's URL column as well.
6. Specify the category of the note. The categories are useful when filtering custom process features for reporting or highlighting purposes. You can choose from:
Generic
Engineering
Manufacturing
Inspection
7. Click to create the 3D Note.

You can also attach a 3D Note to a model by way of the Custom Process browser.
