When your data originates in another CAD system, you may need to perform extra steps to successfully load the IGES file in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling.
Creo Parametric
• When you import a model whose dimensions are expressed in inches, the dimensions must be converted to millimeters in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, thus introducing a factor of 25.4. The unit should be changed to millimeters in Creo Parametric before the IGES file is generated.
• Creo Parametric uses a configuration file that controls the output to IGES files.
• Be sure to use the Creo Parametric check tool before you export to IGES. With the check tool enabled, Creo Parametric identifies geometry errors in the actual part. Erroneous features are highlighted.
• To prevent the import of a corrupt model, make sure that no construction geometry or untrimmed surface is included in the IGES file generated from Creo Parametric.
I-DEAS
• Check for point coincidence tolerance and entity class switches before exporting to IGES. Select "CATIA flavour" for both import and export.
Unigraphics
• Cones, cylinders, spheres, surfaces of revolution, and tabulated cylinders should be output as B-surf.
• Solid bodies should be output as grouped geometry.
• Trimmed surfaces and periodic surfaces can be output as trimmed surfaces and periodic surfaces, respectively.
• Assemblies should be output as fully nested subfigure definitions.
• Patterns should be output as subfigure definitions.
• UG line fonts should be mapped to their corresponding IGES line font numbers.
• UG color definitions should be mapped to their corresponding IGES color numbers.
