Imprint edges
Most of the imprinting commands in the Core & Cavity menu are Creo Elements/Direct Modeling standard; links to the relevant Help are listed here. Mold Design Advisor-specific functions (Open Profile and Delete Edge) are described here. You can imprint an open profile onto a part. No imprint is made on the backside of the part for all curves that hit the part completely. Profile curves that do not hit the part completely wrap around the part. You can delete edges on "mergeable" faces, that is, those that connect faces smoothly. This command is intended to remove parting lines or incorrectly imprinted lines; you cannot delete the "external" edges of faces.
To imprint an open profile,
1. Click Mold Design and then, in the Imprint group, click the arrow next to Profile.
2. Click Open. The Imprint Open Profile dialog box opens.
3. If necessary, click Part and specify a different part to imprint upon, or click To Faces and specify the faces to imprint.
4. If necessary, specify the workplane containing the open profile to be imprinted.
5. A direction for the imprint is selected automatically; select a different direction in the Direction list to change this.
6. Click Remove hidden edges on to split all the imprinted curves at the silhouette points with respect to the direction, and to remove the invisible edges.
7. To discard the workplane, click Keep WP off.
8. To discard just the profile (but keep the workplane), click Keep Prof off.
9. To return a parting line feature with all imprinted edges, click Keep as Parting Line
10. Click OK to make the imprint.
To delete edges,
1. Click Mold Design and then, in the Imprint group, click the arrow next to Delete.
2. Click edges to delete.
3. Continue clicking edges, or click OK to complete the operation.
