Extend to plane
The Extend to Plane function adds material to a set of faces. It extends them linearly and perpendicularly to either a workplane or a plane, which is defined by the planar face. The function is especially helpful to fill corners or slots and create a single planar face instead.
You have two options when selecting the set of faces to extend:
Chain: To specify a chain of faces, select a start face, an end face, and an inner face. All three faces must have a common neighbor face (the magenta face in the example below.) This selects all connecting faces, from start face to end face through the inner face.
Faces: You may use all Select options to specify a set of faces.
To extend a set of faces to a plane,
1. Click Mold Base and then, in the Model group, click Extend to Plane. The Extend to Plane dialog box opens.
2. To specify the faces to extend, use either the Chain or Faces option (see above).
3. To specify the plane to extend to, use one of the Stop Options:
To Wp: Select a workplane.
To Face: You must select a planar face. Non-planar faces are not accepted as it defines the plane where the extension stops.
4. Click OK.
If Extend to Plane fails for some faces you selected, you have the option to keep the result or not. The facesthat could not be extended are highlighted.
