Describe material properties
A material must be assigned to the study prior to performing an analysis. Creo Elements/Direct Finite Element Analysis has a standard materials database from which to select a material for your model. It allows you to access or create a Preferred Materials library of materials in use within your company or design team.
Creo Elements/Direct Finite Element Analysis also gives you the ability to consult the session materials list. This list is maintained within your Creo Elements/Direct Finite Element Analysis session and includes all materials you have selected throughout the course of the session.
The materials lists and database include the following material properties for each entry:
Material
Material ID
Mechanical Characteristic (isotropic)
Thermal Analysis Characteristic (isotropic)
Density
Young's Modulus
Shear Modulus
Poisson's Ratio
Thermal Analysis Expansion Coefficient
Thermal Analysis Conductivity
Specific Heat
Reference Temperature
Material Strength properties are included for failure calculations:
Ultimate Strength
Yield Strength
Failure Strength
