Create and edit a material database
You can create and maintain your own database of materials by simply entering physical properties, such as Poisson's ratio and Young's modulus, into a menu. You first create the database, give it a name, and then add materials to it. Later, you can edit the database by adding, copying, and deleting materials. When you are ready to assign materials in a study, you can call the database as with any other material database.
To create your own material database,
1. Enter the following on the user input line: da_edit_mat_db
Creo Elements/Direct Finite Element Analysis displays the Edit Matrl DB dialog box.
2. Enter a name for the database in the Database box.
3. If necessary, enter a description of the database in the Info box (to enter longer text strings, click Info to display the text editor).
4. Click New Matrl and enter a name for the material in the Material box.
5. Specify the relevant information under Mechanical Properties and Thermal Properties.
6. Click Save Matrl to save the material to the database. (At this point, you only need enter a single material.)
Creo Elements/Direct Finite Element Analysis displays the material you have created in the Database Materials dialog box.
7. You can now click to save the database to the file system and close the dialog boxes or continue adding materials as described in the following.
To edit the newly created database by adding a material,
1. Click New Matrl to clear the fields.
2. Enter a name for the material in the Material box.
3. If necessary, enter a material ID in the Matrl ID data entry field.
4. Specify the relevant information under Mechanical Properties and Thermal Properties.
5. Click Save Matrl to save the material to the database.
Creo Elements/Direct Finite Element Analysis displays the material you have created in the Database Materials dialog box.
6. Click New Matrl and repeat the above procedure to add a new material.
When you have finished adding materials to the database, remember to click to save the database and its contents.
