In most operations where you are required to specify elements, you can simply click the elements. This method, however, is not effective when selecting multiple items, for example, if you want to delete all construction lines in all workplanes. The Select tool provides effective and powerful methods to select 2D elements, labels, 3D elements, 3D objects (parts, workplanes, and so on), features, 3D Annotations, and to build selection lists.
• Selecting 2D elements- During a 2D operation that requires you to specify elements, you can click Select to display the 2D mode select tool. • Selecting 3D elements - During a 3D operation that requires you to specify elements, the Select button is active and can be used to display the 3D mode select tool. • Selecting 3D Objects (Parts, Workplanes, Viewplanes) - With this option you do not specify a select focus, instead you simply select the objects and specify the selection method. When using an operation such as Delete 3D, which requires you to specify 3D objects (for example, parts, assemblies, workplanes, workplane sets) you can click Select to display the 3D Objects selection tool. Creo Elements/Direct Modeling displays the select options which apply to that operation.
• Selecting by 3D Box - The selection by 3D box allows a very fast and precise selection of 3D elements in a certain area of your design, for example to select the faces of a design detail. A box is drawn by specifying a frame parallel to the active workplane and extending it in a direction normal to that workplane. All selectable 3D elements within the box are selected.
• Selecting 3D Annotations - With this option, as with Labels, you do not specify a select focus. You need only specify the type of 3D Annotation dimension to select and specify the selection method. During an operation that requires you to specify 3D Annotations, you can click Select to display the 3D Annotations selection tool. Creo Elements/Direct Modeling will display the select options that are valid for that operation. This section describes all the options available in Select.
• Selecting by Viewport Frame - The selection by viewport frame allows you, for example, to easily select a group of faces which do not form a recognized feature. The frame is drawn in a viewport, independent from any workplane, and extends infinitely in the viewport's positive and negative normal direction. All selectable 3D elements within the frame are selected.
• Selecting features - During a 3D operation where you need to specify features, the Select button is active and can be used to display the features select tool. With this option you do not specify a select focus. Creo Elements/Direct Modeling displays the valid selection methods, which apply to features referencing 2D elements, 3D elements or both. • Selecting labels - With this option you do not specify a select focus. You just select the type of label and specify the selection method. During an operation that requires you to specify labels, you can click Select to display the Labels selection tool.
