Using selection lists
You can select multiple elements in the viewport in three ways. The quickest is by using a selection box. You can easily make more precise selections using the mouse and keyboard, and you can make more complex selections using the selection tool.
You can use the selection tool to create selection lists for complicated selections such as choosing all construction circles in a specified box, all circles on all workplanes, and all arcs meeting at a vertex. You can add and remove elements from a selection list. You can use two selection lists and compare and exclude elements from the lists.
To select using a selection box,
Simply select multiple items by clicking and dragging the mouse to define a selection box.
To select using the mouse and keyboard,
Press the Shift button and click the left mouse button. Click elements to add to the list.
Click elements again to remove them from the list.
Click in empty space at any time to clear your selection list.
To end the selection list, click the middle mouse button.
To select using the selection tool,
1. Click Home and then, in the Utilities group, click Select. The Select dialog box opens.
2. In the Select tool, click Start (in List).
3. Click elements to add to the list. To remove a selected element, simply click it again.
4. Click Clear to clear the selection list.
5. To end the selection list, click End (in List).
For more complex selections, expand List to use a combination of the following options:
XOR - Simply click to add or delete an element from the selection list. (By default this is on.)
Add - Add the next selection to the selection list.
Remove - Remove the next selection from the selection list.
And - Select all elements that are in both the next selection AND in the selection list.

If the Preselection focus (on the Status Bar) is All, and you select multiple elements, press TAB to go to the next element in the selection list. The Command Mini Toolbar (CMT) for the selected element opens. The order of the elements selected is the same as the order in the preselection range (on the Status Bar). For example, after initial selection,
1. Press TAB to select assemblies (if present).
2. Press TAB again to select parts (if present).
If the Preselection focus (on the Status Bar) is All, and you select multiple elements, press SHIFT + TAB to go to the previous element in the selection list. The Command Mini Toolbar (CMT) for the selected element opens.
To add elements to a selection list,
When you are in an operation that requires you to specify items:
1. Click Home and then, in the Utilities group, click Select. The Select dialog box opens.
2. In the Select tool, click Start (in List).
3. Click Add (in List).
4. Specify the elements to select using the available selection techniques. Creo Elements/Direct Modeling highlights the selected elements.
5. You can continue manipulating the selection list until you click End (in List).
If you have used another option (Remove, And, XOR, or Clear) in List, you can switch back to adding elements by clicking Add. The elements you now pick will be added to your list.
To remove elements from a selection list,
While creating the list:
1. Click Remove (in List).
2. Specify the elements to remove from the selection list using the available selection techniques. Creo Elements/Direct Modeling highlights the selected elements.
3. You can continue manipulating the selection list until you click End (in List).
To select common elements from two selections,
After starting your first selection in List:
1. Click And (in List).
2. Specify a second selection. To select groups of elements, use the selection techniques in Methods (in Select). Creo Elements/Direct Modeling highlights the elements common to both selections.
3. You can continue manipulating the selection list until you click End (in List).
To add and remove items from a selection list,
After starting your first selection in List:
1. Click XOR (in List).
2. Specify a second selection. To select groups of elements, use the selection techniques in Methods (in Select). Creo Elements/Direct Modeling excludes all elements in the second selection that are in the first, while adding all those that are not in the first selection to the result.
3. You can continue manipulating the selection list until you click End (in List).
To end a selection list
Once you have finished refining a selection list you can end the list by clicking End (in List). Creo Elements/Direct Modeling will then use the list in the operation.
