Add a thumbnail
A thumbnail is a small image of a model, drawing, package, or document. With the thumbnail you can see what an item looks like without loading it into an editor or viewer.
When you click an item in the Workspace, its thumbnail appears in the Preview pane. Click the thumbnail to see a larger image of the item, or improve Workspace performance by minimizing the Preview pane when you do not need to see thumbnails.
To generate and save a thumbnail when you save a model:
1. Click the Create thumbnails check box in the Save dialog box.
To generate and save a thumbnail for a model or drawing that has already been saved:
1. Load the model into Creo Elements/Direct Modeling.
2. Click File > Model Manager > Add > Thumbnail. Alternatively, right-click the model and, click Model Manager > Add > Thumbnail or click on the Model Manager toolbar.
To add a thumbnail image from the file system to a model, drawing, package, or document:
1. Select the item.
2. Click Home and then, in the Edit group, click the arrow next to Add New.
3. Click Thumbnail. Alternatively, right-click the item and, in the shortcut menu, click Add New > Thumbnail.
4. Select the thumbnail image file and click Import.
Set thumbnail Preferences
Display a larger thumbnail in a pop-up window when you position your mouse over any Preview thumbnail. In the Advanced pane of the Preferences dialog box click the Show large thumbnail tooltips check box.
Set a default size at which you want Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager to store your thumbnail images. Click the Thumbnail tab on the Preferences dialog box.
