Generate and save XVL files
You can generate XVL® files in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling and save them in Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager.
Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager will preserve the association between your parts and assemblies and their XVL files so when you save a model as a New Version or Overwrite, Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager no longer displays the XVL file that was associated with the previous revision. This way, you'll know you should recreate a new XVL file for your new model revision.
*
Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager will display a warning if the model or drawing has not been saved before generating the XVL file. You must save the model or drawing first to have the XVL file automatically linked to it.
To generate and save XVL files,
1. In Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, right-click the model or assembly and, in the shortcut menu, click Model Manager > Save Viewable.
2. Select an XVL format:
P-XVL (Precise XVL): the most precise file, but it requires more time to generate.
V-XVL (Visual XVL): the less precise but smaller file, and it requires less time to generate.
3. Select a part or assembly from the Creo Elements/Direct Modeling Structure Browser or viewport as the Object in the Save XVL dialog.
4. Click OK.
Creo Elements/Direct Modeling generates your XVL file and notifies you the export was successful. Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager automatically saves your XVL file, and displays it in your model or drawing's Attachments folder.
