Link saved items to Masterdata
When you save new items in Creo Elements/Direct Drawing Manager you can link them to new or existing Masterdata. For example, if you have several variations of the same part, made from the same raw material, you can link the variations to the same Masterdata. That way, when you create a Bill of Materials, you can easily determine the amount of raw material you need for all the variations.
Before you can link Masterdata to saved items, you must add the Masterdata Name column to the Save dialog box.
To add the Masterdata Name column
1. Right-click the whitespace and, in the shortcut menu, click Layout > Drawing.
2. In the Attributes dialog box, click the Masterdata Name check box.
3. Click OK. The Masterdata column appears in the Save dialog.
To link items to existing Masterdata,
1. In the Masterdata column, click a box and select Browse.
2. In the dialog box, search for the Masterdata to add. Use the drop-down menu to choose where you want to search. Click Recent List, Favorites, or the Search.
3. Select the Masterdata item, and click OK.
4. In the Save dialog box, click Save. The item is saved and linked to the selected Masterdata.
To link items to new Masterdata,
1. In the Masterdata column, click a box. To create a name for the new Masterdata, you can
Select Use drawing name. Creo Elements/Direct Drawing Manager applies the drawing name to the new Masterdata.
Generate a name using a number generator (number generators must be created first by your administrator).
Type a name in the field (this option must be configured first by your administrator).
2. In the Save dialog box, click Save. The item is saved and linked to the selected Masterdata.

You cannot link Masterdata if you save an item as a new version or overwrite an existing item. You also cannot link to previous versions of Masterdata or released Masterdata. (Only members of the ReleasedItemManagers group can link to released Masterdata.)
