You can rename a single revision of an item and still maintain association between any previous or subsequent revisions. Plus, you can even use the rename enhancements with your legacy data.

You may want to rename items if your company changes names over the course of a product's development. For example, your company may start development experimenting with prototypes, using temporary names. These temporary names appear in BOM reports, drawings, and other associated documents. Later, you can rename the prototypes with official document numbers or part numbers.
