Move and copy items between packets
When you organize your work with packets you might need to move an item from one packet to another. When you use packets for a product process, such as a design review, you might need to reference items in the packet so the packet can be sent to the reviewers.
To move items between packets:
When you move an item, the item is removed from the old packet and placed in the new packet. If you have the item reserved it will be reserved in the new packet after the move.
1. Select the items in the current packet, click Structure and then, in the Modify group, click Cut. Alternatively, right-click one or more items in the current packet and, in the shortcut menu, click Cut.
2. Select the new packet, click Structure and then, in the Modify group, click Paste. Alternatively, right-click the new packet and, in the shortcut menu, click Paste.
To copy items between packets:
When you copy an item, the item remains in the old packet and a reference is created in the new packet. If you have the item reserved it will still be reserved in the old packet after the move.
1. Select the items in the current packet, click Structure and then, in the Modify group, click Copy. Alternatively, right-click one or more items in the current packet and, in the shortcut menu, click Copy.
2. Select the new packet, click Structure and then, in the Modify group, click Paste. Alternatively, right-click the new packet and, in the shortcut menu, click Paste.
Other ways to copy items between packets:
Drag an item and drop it on a packet. You can only drag and drop one item at a time.
Cut an item from the Workspace outside its current packet and Paste it in the new packet.
